Top bloke Agass he was my district team manager. He used to take us away games, the most memorable being Birmingham away in the FA Cup 83-84?
Got us out of the ground while it kicked off and he stayed behind to watch what was left of the match.

I just about remember being wheeled through the Co Op in the pram. Must have shut about 82?
Went back years later when it was derelict. I had recalled on the top floor a massive rooflight and it was still there, albeit smashed in places. Someone had run a hosereel down from the roof so you could shimmy up that. The clock tower was three levels if I recall rightly, it was by then a rookery. Every step on the ladder up had about half a foot of birdshit on it. The second level was where the clock was, it afforded a great view of high street north.
There's plans now to build flats on the site, and the denmark now has a tranny cabaret night. Times change.

For those of you who remember Agass, latest word from the hood is that the old boys finally given in and now lives in a care home. He must be well into his 80s by now and last time I saw him (At UP as it happens) he was still volunteering running the football teams as the Mossbourne academy in Hackney

I was there from 1975-1980...Definately no Oxbridge material then.
Most pupils then would't know where Oxford or Cambridge were if you asked them to point them out on a map!
Use to kick off with Woodside regularly, happy days.

Mr Gill's favourite phrase was put your bloody pens down.
However in his accent it sounded like pull your bloody pants down.
One kid in the year above got as far as undoing his belt and his top button before Mr Gill hit the roof.

Branded Agreed - and that is the result of the self serving conspiracy of a poliicised academia, obsessing upon lists and tables rather than real education

The amount of times I've told young people that uni or formal education won't get you what you want. Unless you need it of course. However, they assume the qualification is the end.

I was there between 80-83. Our rugby and football teams were excellent. We were lucky as the PE teachers were had were outstanding. I left that school with 2 O levels and 2 CSE's. Didnt go 6th form or Uni but qualified as a solicitor years later and now have my own firm. Uni isnt for everyone it is not an indicator of success. Although getting into Oxbridge is quite good. They dont fuck about there some of the courses break young feeble minds

Wasn't Mr Gill the music teacher. He died in about 1964 collapsed on the underground. I unfortunately said that he was our next lesson teacher a week after he died. Also who remembers Mr Pearce the sports teacher. He was also centre half for Bexley united

Me and my mate got kicked out of his class one afternoon over a spam fritter.
I said I was hungry and he pulled this spam fritter out of his blazer pocket and said I was saving this for later but you can have it if you want, it was covered in fluff, crumbs and god knows what else, the rest of the class were in uproar. "GET OUT" shouted Mr Gill.
Happy days.....I didn't learn much at school but we did have a laugh!

If I remember rightly Robert Whiteman was in B throughout his time at Brampton Manor, I started in P and spent the last 4 years in T as I wasn't clever just average but, at least I wasn't in S with the thicko's
I knew him from Central Park primary school we in the same class for the 4 years in Junior School.
Would that Maths Teacher be Mr Gill?

nice one thanks
when i started Brampton Manor probably 1975 it got attacked by the other schools in the area.. we were herded into a science room and could see out to the boundary road slope / sewer bank end.. it was carnage six formers teachers and older kids battling against a big mob coming down the sewer bank.
quite an eye opener at 11 years old

I remember watching Ade Coker play at the Boleyn, I think he maybe came on as sub and played alongside Clyde Best, would have been early 70's. Not a bad player, quite quick but didn't set the world alight. Must have been fairly groundbreaking I believe having two black players in the team at the same time back then.

Lato As bill said, his services were beyond my time Where you in RW’s class at BM?
Couple of teachers have come to mind Mr Hardy, maths, American who could not get his head around rhyming slang - poor sod was butchered Another maths teacher, one of Defjam’s firm, brilliant mathmatician but could not get his head around us rascals playing up His stock phrase was ‘get out from here’ in full corner shop accent. We roared with laughter every time and were on an early form of classroom bingo to get him to say it every lesson

I was a Barking boy myself, but we still used to ride our bikes down to Barking Quay, German Hill, Jenkins Lane, The Gallions, Beckton, North Woolwich and the ferry and best of all, Creekmouth and BARKING BEACH.
